Resumen: The aim of this article is to study the influence of the historical novels Kunitori Monogatari written by Shiba Ryōtarō on the design of the main character of the video game Nobunaga’s Ambition: Sphere of Influence, developed by Shibusawa Kō, president of Koei, one of the most important video games companies in Japan. This video game, which is based on the historical figure of Medieval Japan Oda Nobunaga (1534-1582), was released by Koei in 2013 for PC in the context of the celebration of the thirtieth anniversary of the strategy video games saga Nobunaga no Yabō, developed in 1983, of which it constitutes its
culmination. In this article, the book version of Oda Nobunaga will be analyzed, determining the historical sources on which the author based his conception, in order to compare this characterization with the one presented in the video game. Finally, we will assess the weight that this contemporary interpretation has had in the construction of the character that is currently transmitted through this video game.
