Por ello, en el siguiente trabajo, se analiza una de las herramientas más destacadas desarrollada hasta el momento: la encuesta de evaluación de preservación del Centro Asesor de Preservación de Reino Unido. Para ello se han explotado, básicamente, los recursos disponibles en la página web del Centro Asesor de Preservación, estudiando en qué contexto surge la encuesta, su origen, quiénes la desarrollan, cómo funciona, qué tipo de resultados proporciona, y cuáles son sus beneficios y consecuencias a corto y largo plazo.
