Such changes are not uncommon in healthcare services and they will have to adapt to the new situation by increasing the number of services remotely offered. Limited mobility has resulted in interruption of treatments that traditionally have been administered through face-to-face modalities, especially those related to cognitive impairments. In this telerehabilitation approach, both the patient and the specialist physician enter a virtual reality (VR) environment where they can interact in real time through avatars. A spaced retrieval (SR) task is implemented in the system to analyze cognitive performance. An experimental group (n = 20) performed the SR task in telerehabilitation mode, whereas a control group (n = 20) performed the SR task through a traditional face-to-face mode. The obtained results showed that it is possible to carry out cognitive rehabilitation processes through a telerehabilitation modality in conjunction with VR. The costeffectiveness of the system will also contribute to making healthcare systems more efficient, overcoming both geographical and temporal limitations. 000102123 540__ $$9info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess$$aby$$uhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/es/ 000102123 590__ $$a3.889$$b2021 000102123 592__ $$a0.664$$b2021 000102123 594__ $$a5.0$$b2021 000102123 591__ $$aENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES$$b57 / 128 = 0.445$$c2021$$dQ2$$eT2 000102123 593__ $$aEnergy Engineering and Power Technology$$c2021$$dQ1 000102123 591__ $$aENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES$$b133 / 279 = 0.477$$c2021$$dQ2$$eT2 000102123 593__ $$aRenewable Energy, Sustainability and the Environment$$c2021$$dQ1 000102123 591__ $$aGREEN & SUSTAINABLE SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY$$b35 / 47 = 0.745$$c2021$$dQ3$$eT3 000102123 593__ $$aManagement, Monitoring, Policy and Law$$c2021$$dQ1 000102123 591__ $$aGREEN & SUSTAINABLE SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY$$b7 / 9 = 0.778$$c2021$$dQ4$$eT3 000102123 593__ $$aGeography, Planning and Development$$c2021$$dQ1 000102123 655_4 $$ainfo:eu-repo/semantics/article$$vinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion 000102123 700__ $$aBuele, J. 000102123 700__ $$0(orcid)0000-0002-9508-7078$$aRamos Lorente, P.$$uUniversidad de Zaragoza 000102123 700__ $$aGarcía-Magariño, I. 000102123 700__ $$0(orcid)0000-0002-9408-1280$$aPalacios Navarro, G.$$uUniversidad de Zaragoza 000102123 7102_ $$15008$$2785$$aUniversidad de Zaragoza$$bDpto.
