000108204 520__ $$aResumen: Este trabajo ofrece una recopilación de las aproximaciones a las teorías anatómicas y médicas modernas que se dieron entre los siglos XVII y XVIII en España para explicar la idea de la inferioridad femenina. Dicho tipo de teorías estuvieron acompañadas del triunfo de la teoría de la complementariedad de los sexos desde un plano teológico-moral. Así, se planteará que las teorías científicas y complementarias se utilizaron activa y conjuntamente como forma de dar una nueva legitimidad a la subordinación de las mujeres en un momento de cambio político, social <br />y cultural.<br />Palabras clave: mujeres, anatomía, medicina, domesticidad, Revolución Científica, Ilustración, España. <br />Abstract: This essay offers an approach to the anatomic and medical modern theories that were accepted between the 17th and 18th centuries in Spain to explain women’s inferiority ideas. This kind of theories were accompanied by the success of the complementarity theory of the sexes from a theological-moral level. Thereby, this essay will present that the scientific and complementary theories were actively and jointly used to provide a new legitimacy for women subordination in a period of political, social and cultural changes.<br />Keywords: women, anatomy, medicine, domesticity, Scientific Revolution, Enlightenment, Spain<br /><br />
