Notas: Resumen disponible también en inglés: Background and objective: The purpose of our study was to check whether antiplatelet therapy of any kind significantly decreases the mortality of patients who have suffered a hip fracture, based on a reduction in inflammation caused by the fracture. Patients and objectives: An observational, longitudinal and retrospective study has been carried out, in which we have included all the patients treated in our hospital, in the year 2016, a total of 422 patients, who were divided into two groups, depending on whether they were antiaggregates. After the fracture, to analyze their intrahospital mortality, month, at 12 months and at 40 months. Results: Antiplatelet therapy reduced mortality significantly in the month after fracture (p = 0.047), then the differences were not significant, with a tendency to match the mortalities of both groups. Conclusions: We believe that reducing short-term mortality may have resulted from the anti-inflammatory effect of antiplatelets. It is necessary to carry out a more potent study, to confirm our results, and to let us know if it would be indicated to treat all patients with hip fractures with antiplatelets.
