000117839 520__ $$aThis essay analyses how the figure of the independent career woman in Lover Come Back (Delbert Mann, 1961) becomes a sign of progress and breaks from outmoded sexual and ideological standards. Still, the film continually ridicules this female figure for not conforming to the 1950s and 1960s conventions. For this purpose, a brief introduction to sex comedies is presented, along with a review of Doris Day's career and the roles she played as a conformist career woman. Afterwards, the central part of the essay will analyse Carol Templeton as an independent career woman while examining her extravagant but meaningful hats and her female initiative. In light of the film's humoristic purpose, this essay will try to determine whether we should laugh at her or applaud her for carrying on such a revolutionary role. <br />Este ensayo analiza cómo la figura de la mujer profesional independiente en Lover Come Back (Delbert Mann, 1961) se convierte en un signo de progreso y rompe con patrones sexuales e ideológicos anticuados. No obstante, la película ridiculiza continuamente a esta figura femenina por no ajustarse a las convenciones de los años 50 y 60. Para ello, se presenta una breve introducción a las comedias sexuales, así como un repaso por la carrera de Doris Day y por los papeles que desempeñó como mujer profesional conformista. Posteriormente, la parte central del ensayo analizará a Carol Templeton como mujer profesional independiente a la misma vez que se examinan sus sombreros extravagantes pero significativos y su iniciativa femenina. A la luz del propósito humorístico de la película, este ensayo intentará determinar si debemos reírnos de ella o aplaudirla por desempeñar un papel tan revolucionario.<br />
