Para ello, en primer lugar, se realiza una síntesis sobre el origen y desarrollo del conflicto, y a continuación se abordan tres aspectos principales: la cuantificación de las tropas, el reclutamiento de los combatientes y la financiación. El objetivo es comprobar las semejanzas y diferencias entre dos formaciones estatales concurrentes en el Mediterráneo medieval, como son la Corona de Aragón y el Comune de Pisa, a partir de la bibliografía de tema militar, social y económico, y de un amplio repertorio de fuentes inéditas conservadas en el Archivo de la Corona de Aragón y en los Archivi di Stato de Pisa y Florencia.
This paper aims at providing a comparative analysis of the armies of the Crown of Aragon and the Commune of Pisa in the war for the dominion of Sardinia between 1323 and 1326, which concluded with the incorporation of the island to the dominions of the Aragonese monarchy. Firstly, to do this, a synthesis is made on the origin and development of the conflict. Then, three main issues are addressed: the quantification of the troops, the recruitment of the combatants, and the financing. The objective is to verify the similarities and differences between two concurrent state formations in the medieval Mediterranean, such as the Crown of Aragon and the Commune of Pisa, from military, social and economic bibliography, and a wide repertoire of unpublished sources preserved in the Archives of the Crown of Aragon and the Archivi di Stato of Pisa and Florence.
