Abstract: Resumen:
El catarismo, una de las mayores herejías del cristianismo occidental, se consolidó en la Occitania francesa a comienzos del siglo XIII, generando una campaña represiva sin precedentes y modificando el devenir de instituciones religiosas y políticas de la Cristiandad. Sin embargo, pese a que la herejía albigense ha sido ampliamente estudiada, poco se conoce del alcance de dicho fenómeno fuera de estos territorios. Este trabajo pretende determinar la difusión real del catarismo en los reinos hispánicos de la Península Ibérica, a la que tradicionalmente se ha adjudicado un carácter tardío y dependiente del catarismo occitano. Para ello, este ensayo analizará la historiografía del catarismo peninsular, las particulares condiciones sociopolíticas de los reinos hispánicos y las singularidades del fenómeno herético y del proceso represivo al sur de los Pirineos.

Abstract:
Catharism, one of the greatest heresies of Western Christianity, was consolidated in French Occitania at the beginning of the 13th century, generating an unprecedented repressive campaign and modifying the future of religious and political institutions of Christianity. However, despite the fact that the Albigensian heresy has been widely studied, little is known about the full scope of this phenomenon outside these territories. This essay aims to determine the real impact of Catharism in the Hispanic kingdoms of the Iberian Peninsula, which has traditionally been attributed late and dependent features on Occitan Catharism. In order to do this, this dissertation will analyse the Historiography of peninsular Catharism, the specific socio-political conditions of the Hispanic kingdoms and the singularities of the heretical phenomenon and the repressive process that took place south of the Pyrenees.
