000120665 500__ $$aRapid maxillary expansion is considered an effective and safe technique in growing patients with maxillary compression. However, there are many dangers associated with this treatment in adults, once the midpalatal suture matures. Therefore, the conventionally used surgically assisted maxillary expansion technique (SARPE) and, more recently, the mini-screw assisted maxillary expansion technique (MARPE) have emerged. In recent years, several studies have evaluated the efficacy of both techniques, and together with the evolution of CBCT and the study of the degree of maturation of the midpalatal suture, guidelines have been developed for making a decision on which technique to choose. However, the success of a treatment is not only measured by its immediate results, but is largely based on the stability of the treatment. This is the reason why this study compares the stability of both techniques through a systematic review of the scientific literature of impact by means of the search engines of the different databases. A total sample of 12 articles was obtained after applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, where the changes obtained skeletally and dentoalveolarly at a transversal level and in the airways, were evaluated. The results obtained were similar for both techniques, which leads to the conclusion that both treatments in young adults with maxillary compression are stable. Finally, two clinical cases will be presented that exemplify the two disjunction methods compared in this study.

000120665 520__ $$aLa expansión maxilar rápida es considerada una técnica eficaz y segura en pacientes en crecimiento con compresión maxilar. Sin embargo, existen muchos peligros asociados a este tratamiento en adultos, una vez madura la sutura media palatina. Por ello, surge la técnica de expansión maxilar asistida quirúrgicamente (SARPE) utilizada convencionalmente, y de manera más reciente, la técnica de expansión maxilar asistida por minitornillos (MARPE). Diversos estudios han evaluado en los últimos años la eficacia de ambas técnicas, y junto a la evolución del CBCT y el estudio del grado de maduración de la sutura media palatina, se han elaborado pautas para la toma de decisión sobre qué técnica elegir. Sin embargo, el éxito de un tratamiento no solo se mide por sus resultados inmediatos, sino que se basa en gran medida en la estabilidad del mismo. Es por ello por lo que en este estudio se compara la estabilidad de ambas técnicas a través una revisión sistemática de la literatura científica de impacto mediante de los motores de búsqueda de las diferentes bases de datos. Se obtuvo una muestra total de 12 artículos tras aplicar criterios de inclusión y exclusión, donde se valoran los cambios obtenidos esquelética y dentoalveolarmente a nivel transversal, así como en las vías aéreas. Los resultados obtenidos fueron parecidos para ambas técnicas, por lo que se concluye que ambos tratamientos en adultos jóvenes con compresión maxilar son estables. Para finalizar, se expondrán dos casos clínicos que ejemplifican los dos métodos de disyunción comparados en este estudio.<br /><br />
