Notas: The aim of this study is analyzing the relationship between emotional self-control, the rejection of irrational ideas and assertive behavior. Two instruments, the Rejection of Irrational Ideas Questionnaire and the Assertivity Questionnaire (cf. Davis, McKay and Eshelman, 1985), were applied to a sample of 40 participants (13 of them belonged to the clinical sample, coming from Cooperative Society 2.a.Vía, and 27 participants formed the control group). Two hypotheses, rooted in our previous clinical experience, were established in this investigation, namely, the clinical sample would show more irrational ideas and less assertive behavior than the control group. Results confirm the fundamental adequacy of these hypotheses. Keywords: Emotional self-control; Assertivity; Irrational Ideas; Clinical Sample.
