Business simulation games provide opportunities for students to enter the flow state. However, few studies have applied flow theory in this specific context. Using data from a two-wave longitudinal study with a sample of 430 students who played a business simulation game, this research draws on the four-channel model of flow to identify subgroups of students based on their levels of skill and challenge and to analyse the evolution of their optimal experience of flow. In addition, it explores whether students in flow achieve higher learning outcomes; in particular, students’ perceived learning, satisfaction and skills development. 000127633 536__ $$9info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/DGA-FSE/Building Europe from Aragon$$9info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/DGA-FSE/S54-17R-GENERES Group$$9info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/MINECO-FEDER/ECO2017-82103-P 000127633 540__ $$9info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess$$aby-nc-nd$$uhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/es/ 000127633 590__ $$a2.707$$b2020 000127633 591__ $$aEDUCATION & EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH$$b98 / 264 = 0.371$$c2020$$dQ2$$eT2 000127633 591__ $$aNURSING$$b179 / 346 = 0.517$$c2020$$dQ3$$eT2 000127633 591__ $$aMANAGEMENT$$b160 / 225 = 0.711$$c2020$$dQ3$$eT3 000127633 591__ $$aBUSINESS$$b116 / 153 = 0.758$$c2020$$dQ4$$eT3 000127633 592__ $$a1.167$$b2020 000127633 593__ $$aStrategy and Management$$c2020$$dQ1 000127633 593__ $$aEducation$$c2020$$dQ1 000127633 655_4 $$ainfo:eu-repo/semantics/article$$vinfo:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersion 000127633 700__ $$0(orcid)0000-0001-6631-8909$$aBuil, I.$$uUniversidad de Zaragoza 000127633 700__ $$0(orcid)0000-0001-5268-1723$$aCatalán, S.$$uUniversidad de Zaragoza 000127633 7102_ $$14011$$2095$$aUniversidad de Zaragoza$$bDpto.
