Parents filled out questionnaires with information on socio‐demographic status, step recommendations and ST.ResultsLongitudinal results indicate that participants having a low Diet Quality Index (DQI), not meeting ST and step recommendations at T0 and T1 had higher odds of having overweight/obesity at T1 (odds ratio [OR] = 1.116; 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.104–2.562) than those children having a high DQI and meeting ST and step recommendations at T0 and T1. Similarly, participants having a high DQI, but not meeting ST and step recommendations at T0 and T1 had increased odds of having overweight/obesity (OR = 2.515; 95% CI = 1.171–3.021).ConclusionsThe proportion of participants having a low DQI, not adhering to both step and ST recommendations was very high, and it was associated with a higher probability of having overweight and obesity. 000127894 536__ $$9info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/EC/FP7/245200/EU/Multifactorial evidence based approach using behavioural models in understanding and promoting fun, healthy food, play and policy for the prevention of obesity in early childhood: ToyBox/TOYBOX 000127894 540__ $$9info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess$$aby-nc-nd$$uhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/es/ 000127894 592__ $$a1.247$$b2023 000127894 593__ $$aHealth Policy$$c2023$$dQ1 000127894 593__ $$aPublic Health, Environmental and Occupational Health$$c2023$$dQ1 000127894 593__ $$aPediatrics, Perinatology and Child Health$$c2023$$dQ1 000127894 593__ $$aNutrition and Dietetics$$c2023$$dQ1 000127894 655_4 $$ainfo:eu-repo/semantics/article$$vinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion 000127894 700__ $$aMouratidou, Theodora 000127894 700__ $$0(orcid)0000-0002-0303-7912$$aSantaliestra-Pasias, Alba$$uUniversidad de Zaragoza 000127894 700__ $$aAndroutsos, Odysseas 000127894 700__ $$aIotova, Violeta 000127894 700__ $$aGalcheva, Sonya 000127894 700__ $$aDe Craemer, Marieke 000127894 700__ $$aCardon, Greet 000127894 700__ $$aKoletzko, Berthold 000127894 700__ $$aKulaga, Zbigniew 000127894 700__ $$aManios, Yannis 000127894 700__ $$0(orcid)0000-0003-0454-653X$$aMoreno, Luis A.$$uUniversidad de Zaragoza 000127894 7102_ $$11006$$2255$$aUniversidad de Zaragoza$$bDpto.
