A controlled precipitation is achieved by using a polymer matrix, polyvinylpyridine, containing N-base functional groups that form coordination bonds with iron ions. The resulting materials have permitted the observation of two sources of magnetic moment in akaganeite nanoparticles: (1) finite size effects with a characteristic blocking temperature below 2 K; and (2) a deficient Cl− occupancy, with a characteristic blocking temperature around 18 K. Moreover, the nanocomposites can be dissolved in slightly acidic media to obtain stable aqueous nanoparticle dispersions that could be useful in biomedical applications.</dc:description><dc:date>2009</dc:date><dc:source>http://zaguan.unizar.es/record/132199</dc:source><dc:doi>10.1016/j.polymer.2009.01.034</dc:doi><dc:identifier>http://zaguan.unizar.es/record/132199</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>oai:zaguan.unizar.es:132199</dc:identifier><dc:relation>info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/MICINN/CSD2007-00010</dc:relation><dc:relation>info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/MICINN/MAT2007-61621</dc:relation><dc:identifier.citation>Polymer 50, 5 (2009), 1088-1094</dc:identifier.citation><dc:rights>by-nc-nd</dc:rights><dc:rights>http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/es/</dc:rights><dc:rights>info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess</dc:rights></dc:dc>
