This study aimed to evaluate the clinical and functional changes of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and cervical region immediately after a session of root canal therapy. Methods: Twenty-nine subjects who received a session of root canal therapy were included. Clinical assessments included mouth opening, cervical mobility, pain intensity, pressure pain thresholds (PPTs), and myofascial trigger points (MTrPs) of the jaw and neck muscles. Results: After the intervention, a significant reduction in mouth opening (41.90 mm; SD = 6.21) was observed compared to baseline (46.28 mm; SD = 6.17) (p < 0.001). A significant reduction in PPTs and cervical mobility (p < 0.05), and an increase in MTrPs (p = 0.002–0.026) were demonstrated after the intervention. Conclusions: A session of root canal therapy can produce an immediate significant reduction in mouth opening, PPTs, and cervical mobility, and an increase in MTrPs. The risk can be higher if there is a previous TMJ limitation. 000148572 540__ $$9info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess$$aby$$uhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/es/ 000148572 590__ $$a2.5$$b2023 000148572 591__ $$aENGINEERING, MULTIDISCIPLINARY$$b44 / 181 = 0.243$$c2023$$dQ1$$eT1 000148572 591__ $$aPHYSICS, APPLIED$$b87 / 179 = 0.486$$c2023$$dQ2$$eT2 000148572 591__ $$aCHEMISTRY, MULTIDISCIPLINARY$$b115 / 231 = 0.498$$c2023$$dQ2$$eT2 000148572 591__ $$aMATERIALS SCIENCE, MULTIDISCIPLINARY$$b258 / 439 = 0.588$$c2023$$dQ3$$eT2 000148572 592__ $$a0.508$$b2023 000148572 593__ $$aFluid Flow and Transfer Processes$$c2023$$dQ2 000148572 593__ $$aMaterials Science (miscellaneous)$$c2023$$dQ2 000148572 593__ $$aEngineering (miscellaneous)$$c2023$$dQ2 000148572 593__ $$aInstrumentation$$c2023$$dQ2 000148572 593__ $$aProcess Chemistry and Technology$$c2023$$dQ3 000148572 593__ $$aComputer Science Applications$$c2023$$dQ3 000148572 594__ $$a5.3$$b2023 000148572 655_4 $$ainfo:eu-repo/semantics/article$$vinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion 000148572 700__ $$0(orcid)0000-0003-3868-6784$$aAlonso-Ezpeleta, Óscar$$uUniversidad de Zaragoza 000148572 700__ $$aPoc-Sola, Santiago$$uUniversidad de Zaragoza 000148572 700__ $$aCardiel-Sánchez, Silvia 000148572 700__ $$aCarrasco-Uribarren, Andoni 000148572 700__ $$0(orcid)0000-0001-9080-0543$$aMalo-Urriés, Miguel$$uUniversidad de Zaragoza 000148572 7102_ $$11013$$2275$$aUniversidad de Zaragoza$$bDpto.
