Notas: 1.1 Abstract It is a milestone for humanity than the life expectancy of the world population has reached its maximum about the past, and it is hoped that the near future will increase. The downside is that they also increase the diseases associated with old age and some as devastating as dementia or Alzheimer's disease that attacks the fundamentals of the individual: memory, thinking, language, communication skills etc. In 2010 the World Health Organization (hereinafter WHO) indicated that appears every 4 seconds a new case of dementia and by 2050 it is expected that the total number of people affected by dementia is of 115'4 million. In the list of leading causes of death worldwide, dementias are at the top. Therefore, and for more reasons outlined below, it is important to know what kind of disease we face in order to try to raise awareness and increase the number of investigations and studies to unravel the secrets behind this type of neurodegenerative diseases.
