(International Asociation for the Study of Pain) defines
pain as "a sensory or emotional unpleasant experience,
associated with actual or potential tissue, damage or
described in terms of such damage"1. The pain can be acute
or chronic, whose duration is equal to or greater than 3 or
6 months (2, 3). Pain control is not achieved with
pharmacological measures only, but it is necessary the use
of non-pharmacological measures. The objective of this work
is to carry out a program of health education with which it
is achieved that patients can control their pain.
Methodology: a search has been performed in different
                       bibliographic databases (PubMed, Medline, Cochrane
Library...) and have been produced several documents of
interest to the users of the program, planning a schedule
for the development of the program. The effectiveness of
this will be assessed through indicators. Development: the
"Non-pharmacological treatment of chronic pain" health
education program consists of two parts: a common course to
all participants, and four courses for groups according to
the criteria of inclusion and exclusion. Key words: chronic
pain, non-pharmacological therapy, pain control, nursing.",
