The study sample comprised 30 students from the physical education course of the Primary School Teaching Degree at Zaragoza University in Spain (13 men and 17 women, age of 23.26 ± 1.22). Each student kept a teaching practice diary with comments on the 13 practical sessions on physical artistic-expression activities which were part of the expressive-artistic physical activities module; a content analysis of the diaries was carried out. The NVivo 11 program was utilized for data processing.

The results show that: a) visual interaction conditions expressive praxis; b) when the students are observed they feel more uncomfortable; c) The person being observed feels less uncomfortable if there is only one observer; and, d) the role of the observer is facilitated when there is no eye contact with the person being observed. The results of this study are relevant because they improve our understanding of the positive and negative aspects of visual interaction in artistic-expression activities and this allows the introduction and development of pedagogic resources that can improve the learning experience.
