Resumen: In 2024, the CJEU delivered 27 significant judgments in the field of environmental law, reinforcing the uniform interpretation of EU directives on habitats, birds, water, pollution, and renewable energy. It clarified the scope of species protection regimes, such as those applicable to wolves and migratory birds, and refined key concepts such as «favourable conservation status» and «other satisfactory solution.» The Court also condemned several Member States for systematic breaches of environmental obligations, including the designation of protected areas and waste management. In addition, it addressed conceptual definitions within the framework of environmental assessments, renewable energy, chemical substances, and access to environmental information, consolidating a rigorous and coherent doctrine aligned with the principles of precaution, sustainability, and good administration.
