Tratamiento odontológico integrado en adultos: presentación de dos casos clínicos

Notas: Treating adult dental patients requires a great professional skills and deep knowledge of various dental areas such as dental radiology, periodontics, operative dentistry, prosthodontics or oral surgery, among others. The goal is to carry out the best treatment plan ever and to achieve the highest level of satisfaction from our patients. This work is based on the report of two clinical cases carried out in the Servicio de Prácticas Odontológicas at the Universidad de Zaragoza. In both cases, the medical history and the examination are presented and different treatment options are exposed based on an extensive review of the scientific literature. Also, the therapeutic sequences carried out are presented. Thus, Clinical Report 1 is a case of a 62-year-old female smoker and with a history hypertension, with multiple missing teeth. After initial basic periodontal treatment, exodontia and operative dentistry treatments in the remaining teeth, we carried out a prosthodontic rehabilitation with partial removable dental prosthesis with acrylic resin. On the other hand, the Clinical Report 2 is a case of a 42-year-old male smoker with three root fragments which required tooth extraction. Also, as in case 1, we also carried out an initial basic periodontal treatment and several operative dentistry treatments in the remaining teeth. In this second case we did not carry out the prosthodontic rehabilitation but treatment alternatives are presented and the recommended option is outlined. The figures of each case are shown in Annexes I and II. We conclude that integrating various specialties during dental treatments in adults is common previously to prosthodontics rehabilitation. Furthermore, it always requires professional skills and attitudes expected of a dental practitioner.
