In most developed countries, the law requires public authorities to provide online information to ensure competitive tendering as far as possible, for which the adequate announcement of tenders is an essential requirement. In addition, transparency laws being proposed in such countries are making the monitoring of public contracts by citizens a fundamental right. This paper describes the PPROC ontology, which has been developed to give support to both processes, publication and accountability, by semantically describing public procurement processes and contracts. The PPROC ontology is extensive, since it covers not only the usual data about the tender, its objectives, deadlines and awardees, but also details of the whole process, from the initial contract publication to its termination. This makes it possible to use the ontology for both open data publication purposes and for the overall management of the public contract procurement process. 000053115 536__ $$9info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/MICYT/TSI-020606-2012-4 000053115 540__ $$9info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess$$aby-nc$$uhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/es/ 000053115 590__ $$a2.889$$b2016 000053115 591__ $$aCOMPUTER SCIENCE, ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE$$b33 / 133 = 0.248$$c2016$$dQ1$$eT1 000053115 591__ $$aCOMPUTER SCIENCE, THEORY & METHODS$$b14 / 104 = 0.135$$c2016$$dQ1$$eT1 000053115 591__ $$aCOMPUTER SCIENCE, INFORMATION SYSTEMS$$b36 / 146 = 0.247$$c2016$$dQ1$$eT1 000053115 592__ $$a1.098$$b2016 000053115 593__ $$aComputer Networks and Communications$$c2016$$dQ1 000053115 593__ $$aInformation Systems$$c2016$$dQ1 000053115 593__ $$aComputer Science Applications$$c2016$$dQ1 000053115 655_4 $$ainfo:eu-repo/semantics/article$$vinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion 000053115 700__ $$aEsteban, G. 000053115 700__ $$aCorcho, O. 000053115 700__ $$0(orcid)0000-0003-1683-4694$$aSerón, F.$$uUniversidad de Zaragoza 000053115 7102_ $$14010$$2381$$aUniversidad de Zaragoza$$bDpto.
