note = "This essay explores the ways in which English for Specific
Purposes (ESP) is implemented as a teaching methodology in
Vocational Training programs. In order to introduce the
topic, I present the historical background which made the
appearance of ESP possible. Then I explain how General
English teaching was an insufficient approach for certain
professional sections and this allowed the creation of the
more focused approach provided by ESP teaching. In the
theoretical and curricular section, I provide a context
(students from Grado Superior en Automoción in Salesianos)
and an ESP variety ([General] Business English). I
emphasize how the context in which the practitioner is
involved in affects the course of teaching because of the
important duty to analyze students’ needs. In addition,
the role of the teacher as facilitator and the problem of
lacking domain expertise are also discussed. In the last
section of the essay, I analyze the current instructional
materials used in this center and propose a suitable lesson
plan for Automoción students.",
