Compound 3 undergoes regiospecific cyclometallation at the naphthyl ring of the NHC ligand to give the five-membered platinacycle compound [{Pt(mu-Cl)((CC) over cap*)}(2)] (4). Chlorine abstraction from 4 with beta-diketonate Tl derivatives rendered the corresponding neutral compounds [Pt((CC) over cap*)(L-O,O')] {L = acac (HL = acetylacetone) 5, phacac (HL = 1,3-diphenyl-1,3-propanedione) 6, hfacac (HL = hexafluoroacetylacetone) 7}. All of the compounds (3-7) were fully characterized by standard spectroscopic and analytical methods. X-ray diffraction studies were performed on 5-7, revealing short Pt-Pt and pi-pi interactions in the solid-state structure. The influence of the R-substituents of the beta-diketonate ligand on the photophysical properties and the use of the most efficient emitter, 5, as phosphor converter has also been studied.</dc:description><dc:date>2015</dc:date><dc:source>http://zaguan.unizar.es/record/58426</dc:source><dc:doi>10.1002/chem.201404915</dc:doi><dc:identifier>http://zaguan.unizar.es/record/58426</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>oai:zaguan.unizar.es:58426</dc:identifier><dc:relation>info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/MINECO/TEC2012-38901-C02-01</dc:relation><dc:relation>info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/EC/FP7/246558/EU/ARAID-European UnionAttraction of Researchers and Fellowship Program/ARAIDEU</dc:relation><dc:relation>info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/MICINN/CTQ2008-06669-C02-01-BQU</dc:relation><dc:identifier.citation>Chemistry - A European Journal 21, 4 (2015), 1620-1631</dc:identifier.citation><dc:rights>by-nc</dc:rights><dc:rights>http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/es/</dc:rights><dc:rights>info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess</dc:rights></dc:dc>
