Resumen: El artículo analiza, a partir del Ritual de la Serpiente de Aby Warburg, algunas de las líneas fundamentales de su concepción sobre la imagen como “ciencia sin nombre”. En esa conferencia, Warburg incorpora método, escritura y teoría, y cruza por la teoría de la imagen, los estudios visuales y la etnología (antropología), construyendo novedosas tesis sobre la imagen que cuestionan su visión como estética, armonía y belleza.
The article analyzes, starting from the Ritual of the Serpent by Aby Warburg, some of the fundamental lines of his conception of the image as “science without name”. In that lecture, Warburg incorporates method, writing and theory, as he approaches the theory of the image, visual studies and ethnology (anthropology), constructing novel theses on the image that question its conception of aesthetics, harmony and beauty.
