note = "Abstract Pulmonary stenosis (PE) is a hereditary
congenital heart disease that consists of a narrowing of
the pulmonary valve, pulmonary artery or right ventricular
tract. It mainly affects dogs although it can also be
observed in cats. It is a pathology that produces a right
heart failure of fatal evolution if it persists over time.
Depending on the type of defect, its severity, the ability
for early diagnosis and the treatment adopted, the life of
the patient can be considerably prolonged in case they are
with an acceptable quality. In order to establish the most
appropriate treatment in each case, it is essential to make
an accurate diagnosis, being the echocardiographic
examination the test of choice to categorize the defect.
The type of pulmonary stenosis, its morphology and
severity, the maximum blood flow velocity, the systolic
pressure gradient and the degree of ventricular hypertrophy
should be established. Likewise, the possible presence of a
poststenotic dilatation of the pulmonary artery, a
tricuspid regurgitation and / or other cardiac
malformations that could aggravate the pathology should be
                       determined. Transthoracic ultrasound and cardiac
catheterization, among other diagnostic techniques, can
provide additional information. This work consists in
reviewing the state of the art of pulmonary stenosis,
centered on the etiology, pathophysiology, clinical,
diagnosis and categorization of the defect according to its
severity, the degree of evolution, the clinical
consequences the medical, surgical and interventional
                       treatments applied today.",
