We developed a tool to create custom datasets from observed daily precipitation records. Reference values (RV) are computed for each day and location using multivariate logistic regression with altitude, latitude and longitude as covariates. The operations were compiled in an Open Source R package called reddPrec. The reddPrec package consists of a set of functions used to: i) apply a comprehensive quality control over original daily precipitation datasets, flagging suspect data based on five predefined criteria; ii) fill missing values in original data series by estimating precipitation values using the 10 nearest observations for each day; and iii) create new series and gridded datasets in locations where no data were recorded. 000064380 536__ $$9info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/MINECO-FEDER/CGL2012-31668$$9info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/MINECO-FEDER/CGL2011-24185$$9info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/MINECO/CGL2015-69985-R$$9info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/MINECO/CGL2014-52135-C3-1-R$$9info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/DGA-FSE/H38$$9info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/DGA/E68 000064380 540__ $$9info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess$$aby-nc-nd$$uhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/es/ 000064380 590__ $$a4.177$$b2017 000064380 591__ $$aCOMPUTER SCIENCE, INTERDISCIPLINARY APPLICATIONS$$b9 / 105 = 0.086$$c2017$$dQ1$$eT1 000064380 591__ $$aENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES$$b43 / 241 = 0.178$$c2017$$dQ1$$eT1 000064380 591__ $$aENGINEERING, ENVIRONMENTAL$$b14 / 50 = 0.28$$c2017$$dQ2$$eT1 000064380 592__ $$a1.963$$b2017 000064380 593__ $$aEcological Modeling$$c2017$$dQ1 000064380 593__ $$aSoftware$$c2017$$dQ1 000064380 593__ $$aEnvironmental Engineering$$c2017$$dQ1 000064380 655_4 $$ainfo:eu-repo/semantics/article$$vinfo:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersion 000064380 700__ $$0(orcid)0000-0002-7585-3636$$aLuis, Martín de$$uUniversidad de Zaragoza 000064380 700__ $$aBeguería, Santiago 000064380 7102_ $$13006$$2430$$aUniversidad de Zaragoza$$bDpto.
