Unraveling the sequence of events and feedbacks at Termination III (T-III), including potential abrupt climate reversals similar to those of the last Termination, has been particularly challenging due to the scarcity of well-dated records worldwide. Here, we present speleothem data from southern Europe covering the interval from 262.7 to 217.9 kyBP, including the transition from marine isotope stage (MIS) 8 to MIS 7e. High-resolution d13C, d18O, and Mg/Ca profiles reveal major millennial-scale changes in aridity manifested in changing water availability and vegetation productivity. uranium–thorium dates provide a solid chronology for two millennial-scale events (S8.1 and S8.2) which, compared with the last two terminations, has some common features with Heinrich 1 and Heinrich 2 in Termination I (T-I). 000065231 536__ $$9info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/MINECO/CGL2016-77479-R$$9info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/MINECO/CTM2013-48639-C2-2-R 000065231 540__ $$9info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess$$aby$$uhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/es/ 000065231 590__ $$a9.504$$b2017 000065231 591__ $$aMULTIDISCIPLINARY SCIENCES$$b5 / 64 = 0.078$$c2017$$dQ1$$eT1 000065231 592__ $$a6.092$$b2017 000065231 593__ $$aMultidisciplinary$$c2017$$dQ1 000065231 655_4 $$ainfo:eu-repo/semantics/article$$vinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion 000065231 700__ $$0(orcid)0000-0001-7357-584X$$aMoreno, Ana$$uUniversidad de Zaragoza 000065231 700__ $$0(orcid)0000-0002-1304-2264$$aSancho, Carlos$$uUniversidad de Zaragoza 000065231 700__ $$aBartolomé, Miguel 000065231 700__ $$aStoll, Heather 000065231 700__ $$aCacho, Isabel 000065231 700__ $$aCheng, Hai 000065231 700__ $$aEdwards, R.
