La tergiversación del concepto de índex en la fotografía digital: agencias y alteraciones en la imagen contemporánea

Resumen: El presente texto aborda de manera clara la tergiversación del término de índex que define a toda fotografía, desde el mal uso que se hace de éste al identificar imágenes de apariencia fotográfica, como verdaderas fotografías. Este tipo de imágenes tecnológicas carecen de la relación de causalidad entre huella y objeto, por tanto, de la literalidad de toda fotografía, por lo que nunca pueden definirse como fotografías. Para ello, primeramente, el estudio trae al frente el análisis de la literalidad de la imagen con su referente en la era digital. En segundo lugar, aborda el tratamiento digital de imágenes fotográficas, así como las mu´ltiples formas de producción de iconos de apariencia indicial que, sin embargo, prescinden de la misma. Y, en tercer lugar, define a estas nuevas imágenes en sus términos oportunos, forzando nuevas lecturas en el discurso sobre lo fotográfico y sobre lo tecnológico desde su propio cuestionamiento.
This text analyses, in a clear manner, the misinterpretation of the concept of index that defines photography, stemming from the misuse of the term, where images with photographic appearance are defined as real photographs. This kind of technological images completely lack of any kind of causal connection between the final footprint and the object, and therefore also lack of any photographic literalness; hence, they can never be defined as real photographs. To begin with, this study will analyze upfront the imagery literacy and its referent in the digital era. Secondly, the study covers digital photographic edition, as well as the diverse manners of producing iconic images with indexical appearance, but that present a complete lack of it. Thirdly, the study defines this new imagery with proper terms, bringing in new interpretations to the debate on photography and technology, stemming from a challenging point of view.
