Notas: Moncayo has played a decisive role in the social and cultural construction of the valleys of Huecha and Queiles and in the relationship that the peoples of these valleys have maintained with each other. On the other hand, the paradigm shift in the vision of the indigenous peoples of the peninsula in recent years allows us to ask new questions and formulate new hypotheses about their way of life. So in the search for knowledge of the indigenous peoples of Moncayo, two questions have arisen: Who lived and how they lived in the foothills of this mountain at the arrival of the Romans. The objective of this paper is to try to answer these two questions from a broad view that covers more than half a century of studies but that is divided into two aspects to be addressed: the indigenous population in the Queiles and Huecha Valley, and its economy . For the first question, related to settlement in the area, we have treated the subject from the most general to the most particular, beginning with what the Romans called Celtiberia and its inhabitants, analyzing the different theories that exist about its origin, both in concept as ethnologically. The question would follow about the Celtiberian ethnic group to which these people would be attached and, finally, the main cities in the area. The second question is related to the economy, to the "how they lived". The resource that stands out above the rest is the mining and metallurgy of Moncayo, especially iron, although it would not be the only resource that these people exploited. To finish, point out the celtiberian mints and trade was practiced.
