Methods Eighty-two volunteers (41.54 ± 15.29 years, 20 male and 62 female) with CEH participated in the study and were randomly divided into the control and treatment groups. The treatment group received UC-TSM and the control group remained in the same position for the same time as the UC-TSM group, but received no treatment. Cervical mobility (active cervical mobility and flexion-rotation test), pressure pain thresholds over upper trapezius muscles, C2-3 zygapophyseal joints and suboccipital muscles, and current headache intensity (visual analog scale) were measured before and immediately after the intervention by 2 blinded investigators. Results After the intervention, UC-TSM group exhibited significant increases in total cervical mobility (P =.002, d = 0.16) and the flexion–rotation test (P <.001, d = 0.81-0.85). No significant difference in cervical pressure pain thresholds were observed between groups (P >.05). Nevertheless, there was a significantly lower intensity of headache in the UC-TSM group (P =.039, d = 0.57). Conclusions Upper cervical translatoric spinal mobilization intervention increased upper, and exhibited a tendency to improve general, cervical range of motion and induce immediate headache relief in subjects with CEH. 000075917 540__ $$9info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess$$aby-nc-nd$$uhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/es/ 000075917 590__ $$a1.426$$b2017 000075917 591__ $$aINTEGRATIVE & COMPLEMENTARY MEDICINE$$b17 / 26 = 0.654$$c2017$$dQ3$$eT2 000075917 591__ $$aREHABILITATION$$b41 / 63 = 0.651$$c2017$$dQ3$$eT2 000075917 591__ $$aHEALTH CARE SCIENCES & SERVICES$$b69 / 94 = 0.734$$c2017$$dQ3$$eT3 000075917 592__ $$a0.742$$b2017 000075917 593__ $$aChiropractics$$c2017$$dQ1 000075917 655_4 $$ainfo:eu-repo/semantics/article$$vinfo:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersion 000075917 700__ $$0(orcid)0000-0002-3583-5206$$aTricás-Moreno, J.M.$$uUniversidad de Zaragoza 000075917 700__ $$0(orcid)0000-0002-5161-7479$$aEstébanez-de-Miguel, E.$$uUniversidad de Zaragoza 000075917 700__ $$0(orcid)0000-0001-7667-2178$$aHidalgo-García, C.$$uUniversidad de Zaragoza 000075917 700__ $$0(orcid)0000-0002-0906-9114$$aCarrasco-Uribarren, A. 000075917 700__ $$0(orcid)0000-0002-3755-5646$$aCabanillas-Barea, S.$$uUniversidad de Zaragoza 000075917 7102_ $$11006$$2413$$aUniversidad de Zaragoza$$bDpto.
