Notas: The main emphasis of this work focuses on the analysis of the evolution of income inequality in the Latin American and Caribbean during the last 30 years. However, in addition to analyzing the work in terms of economic development, the region will also be analyzed in terms of social development, in order to have a more complete view of the analysis. To get there, firstly we will start giving information related to the inequality terms, so we can understand the different factors and causes of inequality. Secondly, the macroeconomic context of the region is reviewed to broaden the analysis of inequality. And getting into matter, in the middle, the main part of the work will be empirical, using two indicators of inequality: the Gini index and the participation in the total income of the extreme quintiles (20% lowest income, 20% highest income). And finally, a comparison is made between the dimensions of the definition, that is, in terms of social development (Human Development Index) and in economic terms (Gini index) to check whether there is a relationship in both indicators or not.
