In a cross-sectional design, 208 children with overweight and obesity (8 to 12-year- old; 111 boys) completed two non-consecutive 24-hour recalls. ED was calculated using two different approaches: EDS and EDSl- Under-reporters were determined with the Goldberg method. Body composition, anthropometry and fasting blood sample measurements were performed. Moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) was registered with accelerometers (7-day-register). Linear regressions were performed to evaluate the association of ED with the previously mentioned variables. Neither EDS nor EDSL were associated with body composition nor CRF. However, when under-reporters were excluded, EDS was positively associated with BMI (p=.019), body fat percentage (p=.005), abdominal fat (p=.008) and fat mass index (p=.018), while EDSL was positively associated with body fat percentage (p=.008) and fat mass index (p=.026). When stratifying the group according to physical activity recommendations, the aforementioned associations were only maintained for non-compliers. Cluster analysis showed that the low-ED and high-MVPA group presented the healthiest profile for all adiposity and CRF. These findings could partly explain inconsistencies in literature, as we found that different ED calculations entail distinct results. Physical activity levels and excluding under-reporters greatly influence the associations between ED and adiposity in children with overweight and obesity. 000079734 536__ $$9info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/FEDER/Una manera de hacer Europa$$9info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/ISCIII/FIS/PI13-01335$$9info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/MECD/FPU14-03329$$9info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/MICINN/RYC-2011-09011$$9info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/MINECO/BES-2014-068829$$9info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/MINECO/DEP2013-47540$$9info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/MINECO/DEP2016-78377-R 000079734 540__ $$9info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess$$aAll rights reserved$$uhttp://www.europeana.eu/rights/rr-f/ 000079734 590__ $$a3.334$$b2019 000079734 591__ $$aNUTRITION & DIETETICS$$b40 / 89 = 0.449$$c2019$$dQ2$$eT2 000079734 592__ $$a1.236$$b2019 000079734 593__ $$aNutrition and Dietetics$$c2019$$dQ1 000079734 593__ $$aMedicine (miscellaneous)$$c2019$$dQ1 000079734 655_4 $$ainfo:eu-repo/semantics/article$$vinfo:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersion 000079734 700__ $$aArenaza, L. 000079734 700__ $$aMedrano, M. 000079734 700__ $$aMora-Gonzalez, J. 000079734 700__ $$aCadenas-Sanchez, C. 000079734 700__ $$aMigueles, J.H. 000079734 700__ $$aMuñoz-Hernández, V. 000079734 700__ $$aMerchan-Ramirez, E. 000079734 700__ $$aMartinez-Avila, W.D. 000079734 700__ $$aMaldonado, J. 000079734 700__ $$aOses, M. 000079734 700__ $$aTobalina, I. 000079734 700__ $$0(orcid)0000-0002-4020-0256$$aGracia-Marco, L. 000079734 700__ $$0(orcid)0000-0002-4303-4097$$aVicente-Rodriguez, G.$$uUniversidad de Zaragoza 000079734 700__ $$aOrtega, F.B. 000079734 700__ $$aLabayen, I. 000079734 7102_ $$11006$$2245$$aUniversidad de Zaragoza$$bDpto.
