Los críticos de la época acogieron con grandes elogios su apertura, insistiendo especialmente en el lujo de su instalación. Fue fundado por la sociedad Francisco Matossi, Bernardo Fanconi y compañía -que bajo el mismo nombre de Suizo tenía otros en varias ciudades- en una de las principales vías como es la calle de Alcalá, esquina con la Ancha de Peligros. Fue uno de los cafés más concurridos y acogió célebres tertulias. Con su desaparición, en 1919, se llevó consigo muchas historias de la vida madrileña. In this text we focus on the café Suizo in Madrid, which was inaugurated in 1845. Critics of the time welcomed its opening with great praise, insisting in particular on the luxury of its installation. It was founded by the company Francisco Matossi, Bernardo Fanconi and company -that under the same name of Suizo had others in several cities- in one of the main roads, in the street of Alcalá, corner with the Ancha de Peligros. It was one of the busiest cafes and hosted famous gatherings.
