Iniciada como una guerra de descolonización frente a Francia, (1946-1954), desde 1961 se convierte en uno de los más sangrientos enfrentamientos de la Guerra Fría entre el Vietnam del Norte comunista y el Vietnam del sur aliado de occidente. EEUU por un lado y el bloque soviético (China y URSS) por el otro, se enfrentan de manera indirecta en este territorio de Indochina. <br />El enorme poder militar y tecnológico de EEUU no logra acabar con las guerrillas comunistas y, tras casi 15 años de guerra, con algunos intentos fracasados de acabar con el conflicto, en 1975 las tropas comunistas ocupan la totalidad de Vietnam del Sur y unifican el país.<br />The Vietnam War is an iconic event of the second half of the 20th century. Started as a war of decolonization from France (1946-1954), in 1961 it becomes one of the bloodiest confrontations of Cold War between the communist North Vietnam and the West´s ally, South Vietnam.
