Tipo de Trabajo Académico: Trabajo Fin de Grado
Notas: At the end of 2019, more than 12.300 unaccompanied foreign minors, also known as MENA, were registered in Spain, according to data from the Ministry of Interior. In recent years, the number of minors has increased in the country due to, among other reasons, the closure of the Central Mediterranean migration route through Libya to Italy. The increase in the immigration rate has generated rejection by some political parties, such as Vox, which has led to a greater presence of unaccompanied minors in the parties’ discourse. This discourse has been conveyed to the media, which, in turn, have helped society to build its opinion on the subject according to the type of information they have received. In addition, the use of the term MENA by some political parties, such as the previously named Vox, relating it to delinquency and citizen insecurity, has meant that, in general, part of society may have a negative image of unaccompanied foreign minors.
