PCC 7120</dc:title><dc:identifier>ART-2020-115278</dc:identifier><dc:description>2-oxoglutarate (2-OG) is a central metabolite that acts as a signaling molecule informing about the status of the carbon/nitrogen balance of the cell. In recent years, some transcriptional regulators and even two-component systems have been described as 2-OG sensors. In the nitrogen-fixing cyanobacterium Anabaena sp. PCC 7120, two master regulators, NtcA and FurA, are deeply involved in the regulation of nitrogen metabolism. Both of them show a complex intertwined regulatory circuit to achieve a suitable regulation of nitrogen fixation. In this work, 2-OG is found to bind FurA, modulating the specific binding of FurA to the ntcA promoter. This study provides evidence of a new additional control point in the complex network controlled by the NtcA and FurA proteins.</dc:description><dc:date>2020</dc:date><dc:source>http://zaguan.unizar.es/record/95439</dc:source><dc:doi>10.1002/1873-3468.13610</dc:doi><dc:identifier>http://zaguan.unizar.es/record/95439</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>oai:zaguan.unizar.es:95439</dc:identifier><dc:relation>info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/DGA/E35-17R</dc:relation><dc:relation>info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/MINECO/BFU2016-77671-P</dc:relation><dc:identifier.citation>FEBS Letters 594, 2 (2020), 278-289</dc:identifier.citation><dc:rights>All rights reserved</dc:rights><dc:rights>http://www.europeana.eu/rights/rr-f/</dc:rights><dc:rights>info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess</dc:rights></dc:dc>
