Notas: This dissertation proposes the application of Sigmund Freud’s Mental Iceberg theory in the second part of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. The mental processes occurring in the human psyche as presented by Freud have been largely compared and discussed. Freud’s diagrams illustrating his findings have helped formulate further parallelisms and discoveries on the encounter between Victor and his creature during the turning point of the novel. Through morphosemantic and etymological aspects, this analysis offers a close psychoanalytical reading of the Victor- Creature encounter in the iceberg- like rocky hills.
