000098387 5203_ $$aEl medallón de bronce de Constantino RIC Rom. 279 fue datado por A. Alföldi en el año 326. Sin embargo, el análisis de su iconografía, puesta en relación con las fuentes numismáticas, epi-gráficas y literarias de la época, revela que de esta pieza se acuñaron dos series, la primera en 329, para conmemorar la campaña contra los godos de ese año, y la segunda en 332, para celebrar la definitiva rendición de este pueblo germánico. La representación de su reverso parece haberse inspirado en la obra del poeta Optaciano Porfirio, rehabilitado por el emperador en 329.
The Constantine's bronze medallion RIC Rom. 279 was dated by A. Alfoldi from 326. Yet, the analysis of its iconography, put in relation with the numismatic, epigraphic and literary sources, reveals that two series of this piece were minted, the first one in 329, in order to conmemorate the victory over the Goths from that year, and the second one in 332, to celebrate the defeat of the German people. Its reverse would have been inspired in the work of the poet Optatianus Porfyrius, rehabilitated by the emperor in 329.
