Las téseras de hospitalidad celtibéricas.

Resumen: La hospitalidad fue una institución clave en el Mediterráneo antiguo que regulaba las relaciones sociales entre individuos pertenecientes a distintas entidades políticas garantizando la hospitalidad y la protección recíproca. Estos pactos de hospitalidad no solo implicaban a los firmantes, sino también a sus descendientes y familiares, lo que podía ocasionar problemas ya que cabía la posibilidad de que los beneficiarios de un antiguo acuerdo no se conocieran entre sí. Para resolverlo se crearon unos objetos para poder identificar a las partes involucradas en el acuerdo debiendo ser fácilmente transportables e imposibles de falsificar: las tesserae hospitales. Dentro del conjunto de téseras de hospitalidad, las celtibéricas poseen un puesto predominante, no solo por el elevado número de las mismas, sino por la existencia de rasgos propios que no se encuentran en el resto y que las hacen únicas dentro del mundo de la epigrafía.

Hospitality was a key institution in the ancient Mediterranean that regulated social relations between individuals belonging to different political entities, guaranteeing hospitality and reciprocal protection. These hospitality pacts involved not only the signatories, but also their descendants and relatives, which could cause problems as the beneficiaries of an old agreement might not know each other. To solve this problem, some objects were created to identify the parties involved in the agreement, which had to be easily transportable and impossible to forge: the tesserae hospitales. Within the group of hospitality tesserae, the Celtiberian ones have a predominant position, not only because of the large number of them, but also because of the existence of their own features which are not found in the rest and which make them unique in the world of epigraphy.
