Artefacto apuntado de hueso procedente del Abrigo de Benzú (Ceuta)

Resumen: La presente comunicación es relativa a la caracterización parcial de un artefacto apuntado procedente del Abrigo de Benzú (Ceuta). Se trata de una herramienta en material óseo cuyo estado de fosilización es compatible con el origen Pleistocénico del contexto en que fue encontrado y cuya conformación sugiere un uso multifuncional. El aspecto trabeculado del hueso recuerda la apariencia esponjosa de las costillas de beluga trabajadas por los balleneros. Incrustado en una de las trabéculas se ha encontrado una pequeña concha de Cerithium (muy probablemente C. lividulum), que responde a un morfotipo mediterráneo del área Ibero-marroquí.
This communication is related to the partial characterization of a pointed artifact from the Abrigo de Benzú (Ceuta). It is a bone tool whose state of fossilization is compatible with the Pleistocene origin of the context in which it was found and whose conformation suggests a multifunctional use. The trabeculated appearance of the bone is reminiscent of the spongy appearance of beluga ribs fashioned into tools by whalers. Embedded in one of the bone cavities a small shell of Cerithium (most probably C. lividulum) has been found, which corresponds to a Mediterranean morphotype from the Ibero-Moroccan area.
