Supercritical-Fluid Extraction of Additives and Degradation Products from Both Virgin and Recycled Pet
Resumen: The supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) of several antioxidants, plasticizers, lubricants and related additives from both virgin and recycled PET was studied. Due to the high number of variables a half-replicate of 2(4) full factorial design has been applied to minimize the number of experiments to reach the optimum recovery and extraction conditions. Four PET samples with different physical matrix characteristics (pellets flakes, pressed pellets and frozen grinded plastic) were extracted with supercritical CO2 and then analyzed by GC-MS. Both qualitative and quantitative results are shown discussed. The SFE was optimized and compared to the total dissolution.
