These structures result from combining the decision mechanisms of authority and consensus with the communication networks of star, tree, and full network. Simulation results from Agent Based Modeling show that the authority (consensus) is preferred when the time to reach a group decision matters (not matters), and in organizational environments of high (low) risk and high (low) prospects of growth. Additionally, the results of the paper recommend that organizations that want to migrate from authority to consensus decision making, as defined here, should switch from the low-density tree like connecting network, common in hierarchical structures, to a high-density full network. 000146897 536__ $$9info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/DGA/E22-17R$$9info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/MICINN/MTM2016-77642-C2-2-P$$9info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/MINECO/ECO2013-48496-C4-3-R$$9info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/ES/UZ/UZCUD2017-SOC-04 000146897 540__ $$9info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess$$aby-nc-nd$$uhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/es/ 000146897 590__ $$a7.5$$b2022 000146897 591__ $$aCOMPUTER SCIENCE, ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE$$b31 / 145 = 0.214$$c2022$$dQ1$$eT1 000146897 591__ $$aOPERATIONS RESEARCH & MANAGEMENT SCIENCE$$b10 / 86 = 0.116$$c2022$$dQ1$$eT1 000146897 591__ $$aCOMPUTER SCIENCE, INFORMATION SYSTEMS$$b19 / 158 = 0.12$$c2022$$dQ1$$eT1 000146897 592__ $$a2.076$$b2022 000146897 593__ $$aArts and Humanities (miscellaneous)$$c2022$$dQ1 000146897 593__ $$aDevelopmental and Educational Psychology$$c2022$$dQ1 000146897 593__ $$aManagement Information Systems$$c2022$$dQ1 000146897 593__ $$aInformation Systems and Management$$c2022$$dQ1 000146897 593__ $$aInformation Systems$$c2022$$dQ1 000146897 594__ $$a12.5$$b2022 000146897 655_4 $$ainfo:eu-repo/semantics/article$$vinfo:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersion 000146897 700__ $$0(orcid)0000-0001-8405-1056$$aSalas-Fumás, V.$$uUniversidad de Zaragoza 000146897 700__ $$0(orcid)0000-0002-1184-5901$$aLozano-Rojo, Á.$$uUniversidad de Zaragoza 000146897 7102_ $$12006$$2440$$aUniversidad de Zaragoza$$bDpto.
