Resumen: In historical studies of Spanish Phraseology an important review is needed, focused on the elements referred to as idiomatic words. These words are distinctive for their appearance just in the phraseological units and for their asemantic trait. Approaching from a historical point of view has shown that historical phraseology needs research to elucidate the doubts and problems that the synchronic description involves, as that meaning does not include any of the linguistic processes and changes affecting its appearance and semantic development. This reflection attempts to observe their synchronic conception and historical incompatibility. Dentro de los estudios de fraseología del español se hace necesaria una revisión importante de los elementos llamados palabras diacríticas. Dichas palabras se caracterizan, en principio, por su aparición exclusiva en las locuciones y por su asemanticidad. Desde un punto de vista histórico, pues desde la fraseología histórica también es necesario su análisis, nos surgen muchos problemas y dudas dentro de su categorización. El presente estudio pretende recoger las distintas concepciones y clasificaciones con el fin de aplicar las diferentes nociones de cambio y proceso diacrónico a la hora de someterlas a su contraste histórico.
