Notas: ABSTRACT Introduction: Chronic kidney disease has become one of the main public health problems in the world, affecting more than 10% of the Spanish population leading to high morbimortality and health care costs. However, the most common therapy currently used to treat it, hemodialysis, has made it possible to improve the life expectancy of patients suffering from it. Objetive: To know the nursing intervention in the care of the patient submitted to hemodialysis treatment. Methodology: A bibliographic search was carried out using articles published within the last 5 years and written in Spanish, English and/or Portuguese. The following databases were used as sources of information: Pubmed, Science Direct, Scielo and Dialnet, which have been complemented with a Practical Guide for Patients from the Government of Aragon. Development: The nursing staff is responsible both for monitoring the patient and for dealing with any complications that may arise during a hemodialysis session. They also contribute to improving the patient's quality of life through practices such as social support, music therapy and humor. Finally, his work as a health educator in terms of the nutritional requirements of people undergoing this therapy stands out. Conclusions: The importance of hemodialysis patient care lies in the nursing intervention during the sessions. It allows both patient care and improvement of their quality of life, as well as health education about the disease.
