Response to the Letter to the Editor: “Proton Pump Inhibitor Use and Worsening Kidney Function: A Retrospective Cohort Study Including 122,606 Acid-Suppressing Users”

Resumen: We thank Deng et al. for their comments on our study “Proton pump inhibitor use and worsening kidney function: a retrospective cohort study including 122,606 acid-suppressing users”.
The authors suggested stratification by cumulative PPI dose or duration, as well as by the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or diuretics. We performed the suggested sub-analyses, and we did not find any noticeable differences. As an example, we show the sub-analysis stratified by NSAID use (Table 1). In addition, they recommended the inclusion of lifestyle and socioeconomic factors, which are not routinely collected in healthcare databases and are often difficult to standardize: Unfortunately, these variables are not included in the primary care database used for this study.
In summary, after performing the analyses suggested by the authors, the conclusions of our study remain unchanged.
