Resumen: It is well known that Julio Cortázar signed the first of his published works as ''Julio Denis'', but that chosen name was also the name Cortázar used in many letters and in his personal ex libris during the 1940s. It is perhaps not necessary to say that in literary creation the name functions as a metonymy of the voice and identity. But these two issues are central to all of Cortázar''s writings, particularly to his still little-known poetry. This article aims to connect the biographical data of the namechanging with the problem of the dissolution of identity in some of Cortázar''s poems. In conclusion, it also offers a more or less controversial reflection on the future for Cortázar''s name (and renown).
