Computational modeling of PMMA-POFs for system-level infrastructure applications
Resumen: In this paper, we propose a system-level framework for modeling a POF network suitable for deployment in aircraft. The network incorporates Step Index (SI) POFs, Graded Index (GI) POFs, and Multicore (MC) POFs, utilizing PAM4 modulation, which enables the evaluation and comparison of these fiber types to identify the most suitable for this specific application. The architecture is modeled using an efficient computational approach based on the Matrix Exponential Method (MEM), offering an alternative to solve Gloge’s power flow differential equation (PDE). The simulation is conducted using OptSimTM, whose versatility enables the exploration of multiple scenarios while maintaining high efficiency and productivity.
