El marco histórico en la época de los Amantes: la villa de Teruel en el siglo XIII

Resumen: Desde el siglo XVI la historia de los Amantes de Teruel empezó a despertar interés gracias a la publicación de diversas obras literarias sobre el tema. Así la leyenda llegó a oídos escépticos que pidieron pruebas de la autenticidad de los hechos narrados, lo que llevó a diversos autores a sumergirse en los archivos turolenses con el fin de aportarlas. Este artículo no pondrá fin a la discusión empezada hace cuatro siglos, sino que en él estudiaremos el contexto histórico en el que se inserta la leyenda. Para ello analizaremos la situación de Teruel como villa de frontera (1169-1238) y su sociedad, observando si los acontecimientos narrados pudieron haber tenido lugar en ese periodo. Since the XVI century the story of the Lovers of Teruel began to catch the attention due to the publication of many literary texts about it. In this way a number of critics got to know the tradition and asked for proofs of its authenticity, this made that some people started a research in the city archives. This article will not put an end to the discussion, but we pretend to study the historical context of the legend. In order to it, the situation of Teruel as a frontier villa (1169-1238) and its society will be analyzed; with it, we would see if the events related could have been taking place in that period.
