As a genre, this kind of film has often been accused of promoting an old-fashioned notion of British identity, based on those Victorian values of the past. On the other hand, I believe that a close analysis of the films may reveal a certain degree of criticism of the past as well as traces of dissatisfaction with the present, especially in terms of ethnic and gender relationships. Hence, what I try to demonstrate, or rather explore, is the presence of different discourses in these productions, their complexity and ambivalence and their cultural importance in both reflecting and constructing – or refracting – the social reality of their historical context. 000003260 653__ $$aFilm studies 000003260 653__ $$acultural studies 000003260 653__ $$apost-colonial studies 000003260 653__ $$aBritain 000003260 653__ $$aIndia 000003260 653__ $$aImperialism 000003260 653__ $$ahistory 000003260 653__ $$arace 000003260 653__ $$agender 000003260 653__ $$amiscegenation 000003260 653__ $$acultural identity 000003260 653__ $$ahybridity. 000003260 653__ $$aEstudios cinematográficos 000003260 653__ $$aestudios culturales 000003260 653__ $$aestudios post-coloniales 000003260 653__ $$aGran Bretaña 000003260 653__ $$aIndia 000003260 653__ $$aimperialismo 000003260 653__ $$ahistoria 000003260 653__ $$araza 000003260 653__ $$agénero 000003260 653__ $$amestizaje 000003260 653__ $$aidentidad cultural 000003260 653__ $$ahibridez. 000003260 700__ $$aCornut-Gentille D'Arcy, Chantal$$edir. 000003260 7102_ $$aUniversidad de Zaragoza$$bFilología Inglesa y Alemana 000003260 8560_ $$fzaguan@unizar.es 000003260 8564_ $$s4094189$$uhttps://zaguan.unizar.es/record/3260/files/TESIS-2009-057.pdf$$zTexto completo (eng) 000003260 909CO $$ooai:zaguan.unizar.es:3260 000003260 909co $$ptesis 000003260 909CO $$pdriver 000003260 9102_ $$aFilología inglesa$$bFilología Inglesa y Alemana 000003260 980__ $$aTESIS
