Resumen: Z. Z. Stránský’s commitment to the scientific character of museology as an established discipline should be specially highlighted as his greatest intellectual legacy, in as much as his contributions have influenced many museum thinkers from other countries. Spanish museologists entered in contact with Stránský’s ideas through the debates in ICO-FOM, his courses in ISSOM and some museological publications. His example as an academic and his own conception of metamuseology or other personal outputs served as a stimulus for the development of museology in Spain.
