Notas: The representation of the black community on Spanish public television has been practically non-existent since its arrival in 1956. Although Spain has had strong relations with the African diaspora in its colonial period, this past has been forgotten. These relations have been especially strong with Equatorial Guinea, its only territory in black Africa that became a Spanish province. Due to these relations, and since the middle of the last century, the arrival and settlement of migrants of African descent has been remarkable in the Spanish territory. However, Afro-descendants and AfroSpaniards are still perceived as outsiders and unknown. Representation in all public and social spheres must be in keeping with the reality of Spanish streets: plural and diverse. In this paper we focus on the journalistic field, and specifically on television, which as a source of visibility and reference should also meet the above characteristics.
